To achieve better work and
co-operation the Clubs organise Club associations on the respective
territories. These further unite at the municipal, provincial, regional and
national level. That is why there are CAT (Club degli Alcolisti in
Trattamento), ACAT (Associazione dei Club degli Alcolisti in Trattamento),
APCAT (Associazione Provinciale CAT), ARCAT (Associazione Regionale CAT),
AICAT (Associazione Italiana CAT) in Italy.
The Clubs often meet on different levels. In that way
they exchange experiences, talk about their problems, make new acquaintances
and friend. In Croatia we started with meetings of that kind from the very
beginning. One of the most frequent of these meetings in Italy are the
Interclubs that take place 2-3 times a year on one territory. Those meetings
are attended by all members who can and want to come, their
servant-teachers, and sometimes the Clubs invite special guests from
outside, important for the work of the Club, like town mayors, heads of
some services (health, social welfare, education etc.).
Another type of Club meeting are regional Club congresses, provincial
congresses and 2 yearly Conventions at national level: usually one at the
end of spring in Assisi, “Congress for the Social-Ecological Approach to
alcohol related problems and Anthropological Spirituality”, and one in
autumn called the “National Club of Treated Alcoholics Congress”. Those two
Conventions are attended by thousands of Club members. Each has its own
characteristics, and their main objective is to bring together as many
members as possible. At the Conventions members and their servant-teachers
present their ideas about the spiritual aspect of the social-ecological
approach to alcohol related problems (Assisi) or the results of work to date
and ideas about how to continue. Each of the Conventions publishes an
Anthology of Papers so that members who could not attend get the necessary
information.
For better information, communication, continuous education and
acquaintance with alcohol related problems and modernisation, clubs on
different levels publish magazines.
In Croatia a magazine called Bilten was published since 1964, which later
changed its name into AL-Klub, and now appears as Glasnik. There were also
small magazines in certain towns and regions, usually in bulletin form.
Italy has a central magazine for the whole country - "Camminando insieme",
and regional magazines in various regions of Italy. The Club Bibliography
has also been published for several years. |
